Kampala Tatler #27: The Denial Of Justice Corrupts Love And Fuels Abuses
There are those things we take for granted but are so important in our day-to-day activities.
The first victim is the capacity of individuals to act independently on their thoughts, to make their own free choices and execute the actions.
The second victim is the use of our reasoning to create spaces in which we survive, thrive and subsist.
The third victim is how we act on our relationships with others.
The fourth victim is how we craft the language we want to use to represent ourselves.
The fifth victim is the art of exchanging commodities which enhance surviving, thriving and subsisting.
The sixth victim is how the body is used in the marketplace where supply and demand of commodities which enhance surviving, thriving and subsisting takes place.
The seventh victim is how we realize that in a diverse community we have to continually negotiate for the inclusion of many more some like us and others not like us.
A diversity and inclusion expert says: “diversity is being invited to the party; inclusion is being asked to dance.”
Akon a US-based Music Star says: “Inclusion is when you are at the table but you are not the menu!”
Have you ever imagined waking up without the ability to make yourself more presentable or to take your call of nature in a more private way, but you do not have to rely on outside help. Self-care.
Imagine when you are in hold of your faculties, are able to get from one place to another, to do various tasks and execute all duties you set out to do. Self drive.
Imagine when you are economically, politically, socially, culturally and religiously can afford to be anywhere you want to and can be. Self-maturity.
Imagine you are responsible for a group and in the group you hold the key to furtherance of quality life and health seeking behaviour. But you somehow fail to see this and selfishly use your position to enrich yourself. Self-aggrandizement.
The individual has so much fuel on which to run for the entire lifetime, however one has to know how to drive on the following roads: social, cultural, economical, political, religious and technical.
The fuel may range from personal temperament, knowledge, skills, perceptions and attitudes to things in life.
Jurgen Habermas argues that we have to seek to attain an informed conceptualization of law and basic rights, a normative account of the rule of law and the constitutional state, an attempt to bridge normative and empirical approaches to democracy, and an account of the social context required for democracy. We have to know our identities, beliefs, values and needs as well as those of others. This is the key to an awakened justice that is available in form of prescription or acquisition. The denial of justice corrupts love and fuels abuses.
Your actions can do so much to provide or deny others their ability to make purchases in the premium social, cultural, economical, political, religious and technical estates.
You own the decision to uphold or forego that call for responsible for a group where you hold the key to furtherance of quality life and health seeking behaviour.
You may decide or not to promote a collective empowerment for other to economically, politically, socially, culturally and religiously afford to be anywhere they want to and can be, by pulling up as many people as you yourself make the climb.
You can be or not a mentor for others to enjoy the freedom to able to get from one place to another, to do various tasks and execute all duties they set out to do.
Through your decisions, many others can also wake up with the ability to make themselves more presentable or to take the call of nature in a more private way, without relying on outside help.
This way you will have provided contexts within which the capacity of individuals to act independently on their thoughts, to make their own free choices and execute the actions.
You will have provided contexts within which the use of our reasoning to create spaces in which we survive, thrive and subsist.
You will have provided contexts within we can positively act on our relationships with others.
You will have provided contexts within which we craft the language we want to use to positively represent ourselves.
You will have provided contexts within art of exchanging commodities which enhance surviving, thriving and subsisting is positively transformative.
You will have provided contexts within which the body is judiciously used in the marketplace where supply and demand of commodities which enhance surviving, thriving and subsisting takes place.
You will have provided contexts within which a diverse community is not a challenge but rather a catalyst for positive and continued inclusion of many like us and others not like us.
To fight abuses, join the Not in My Backyard-NIMBY-call
Make sure that all public spheres in which you are present are not the very places where abuses take place. There are more abuses in your backyard and not on the streets, courts, schools, hospitals and homes. Your own body can be the last line of defence or the very Molotov of attacks. Watch out for the stick in your eye before you claim the other has but a log in theirs.
