Our Eradication of HIV, TB, Malaria by 2030 Integrating COVID-19 Prevention, Strategic Public Health, Universal Health Coverage (UHC), Livelihood and Housing Stability Strategies   We are known for evidence-based, science-guided and human rights advocacy activities. We hope to cascade our work into the International AIDS Society goals, a body coordinating all HIV prevention and control world-wide.   Recall that the IAS 2016-2020 strategy impacts focused on results: Promote Science; Support Action; and Empower People.   Within each impact area, the strategy outlines 10-year outcomes for the global HIV response that are required to end AIDS as a public health threat by 2030.   The IAS has developed its 2021-2025 Organizational Strategy with the goal of achieving a resilient, science-based, adequately funded HIV response that respects human rights and responds to the varied needs of people living with and affected by HIV.   It is believed that enablers for the achi...

We are known for evidence-based, science-guided and human rights advocacy activities. Find time to read the strategic plans laid out by the International AIDS Society, a body coordinating all HIV prevention and control world-wide. It is believed that enablers for the achievement of these outcomes include advancing and protecting human rights, enacting and/or reforming non-discriminatory laws, and basing action on scientific evidence. The IAS 2021-202...

Results Based Funding Straightens HIV Eradication Planning; Lessons For KP-led Organizations

Image
We have heard of Results Based Funding (RBF) where mechanisms are put in place for reporting interventions that work, are planned to occur at a specific time and all actors are informed of how outcomes will pan out.  It is an incentivization with  financial, equipment and material components. These are provided to organizations if agreed results are pointed out and all effort is made to meet them. It also subsidizes such overhead expenses like office space rent, utilities, transport for staff, fuel/mileage for community outreaches, research, development, job and overall security. The International Development Partners behind this model are USA and The European Community in Uganda. However, the downside is that for some organizations, there is pressure to spend say, PEPFAR among the different organizations that received it. There are 4 stories we want to share with you that we, have come to know of.  They received money to do HIV work but are not...

It Matters That US Presidential Candidates Talk About HIV; Ear On The Ground

Image
You are concerned about HIV Programming and funding that is so much needed. You also know that USA has supported African countries immensely as far as HIV Prevention and Care Programming go. Then read this article I have borrowed from another source. It matters that African countries pay attention, listen attentively and read the signs! Diane Anderson-Minshall   in the same article says,  " 2020 is not the year to get complacent about HIV, but rather an opportunity to spark a new kind of movement.  At the end of the year, we usually mark World AIDS Day on December 1 and reflect both on where the epidemic has been, those we’ve lost to it, and on where we are today. In many ways we’ve progressed to astonishing heights with treatment. Earlier this year, we launched  U=U & U , Pride Media’s year-long initiative getting the word out about the groundbreaking consensus that people living with HIV with undetectable viral loads have  zero  risk o...

Much Ado About Descovy

A friend of mine, knows I enjoy sharing information about breakthroughs in the HIV medication world. As some one who has worked at the grassroots and has witnessed many wonders, I call upon you to read materials such as this. This is from the magazine called The Body. " A medical landmark that might call for fanfare -- a second drug to prevent HIV infection -- is receiving boos from HIV/AIDS advocates who say its rollout could be a step backward, not forward, in access to HIV prevention. In early October, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved Descovy (emtricitabine/tenofovir alafenamide), manufactured by Gilead Sciences, for men who have sex with men and transgender women as a daily pill for pre-exposure prophylaxis, or PrEP. But the drug isn't approved for vaginal sex -- the company didn't test for it -- and that ignores a crucial at-risk part of the population, critics say. Gilead has been touting Descovy's safety -- inflating its safety, detrac...

A General, Several Shades Of Red, HIV Eradication And Anti-Homosexuality In Uganda

Image
I had a dream and in the dream..... It was easier to fight HIV in Uganda and be done with it. With 1,000 persons infected and 500 of these dying every week in Uganda, according to UNAIDS 2019 report, we all must put aside any excuse not to engage in the fight against HIV. Organizations led by KP which have always received Human Rights Activism funds were provided funds as well as those that strategically promoted HIV/Public Health Activism. It was a very edifying dream...... Sadly, there are those who sold phone, bed and family assets to keep upholding HIV Programming and realistically led to a genuine Treatment Cascade for KPs. These organizations were not provided PEPFAR funding!  A Treatment Cascade is where mobilization for testing is done; those who test positive are provided ARVs; and those on ARVs are supported to adhere and go for Viral testing to verify viral load suppression. This was in Malaba, Busia, Hoima, Mbarara, Kampala, Nairobi, Jjinja, Lugazi, ...
