Alas! On 29th July 2017, Roger Waligo's body gave up its soul. The Ugandan LGBTIQQ Refugee Community with deep sorrow, made the announcement of the death of their beloved fellow refugee in Kenya by word of mouth, phone and social media links.
"Roger was a warm, friendly and spirited person. One who made the room burst into life. Roger was spontaneous and believed in life," narrated Henry a friend of Roger.
"We called Roger Lady Boss Nana. This name was fitting the generosity and largesse of Roger. May Roger rest in eternal peace, " said Ham amidst sobs.
Roger breathed the last this evening at Kenyatta Hospital Nairobi. The community called upon the entire LGBTIQQ and friends to stand with them in the sad moment. Arrangements were made to transport the body back to Uganda.
May Roger's soul Rest in Peace!
