In Uganda grass-root organizations showcase HIV response plans

That there is a MoH HIV/Aids Plan! This amazed me, when I got wind of it. It was written in very technical language. But, since we founded this MARPs newsletter to deconstruct jargon we give a short description of the MoH Plans that will go on up to 2015

Uganda's Ministry of health-MoH- did release the MoH Strategic Plan from 2010-2015 with targets on HIV Response and mitigation.
Three objectives caught my eyes:
1.To establish policy and guidelines for dealing with HIV/Aids. This included openness, non-discrimination and Unconditional Positive regard. Hallmarks for confidential chronic care.
2. To train peers, health workers and other actors in skills to reach out to more about HIV/Aids. This meant that affected groups will be able to have services from trained care workers. There will be a critical number of trained HIV/Aids care workers at all tiers representing the different facets of Ugandan population groups.
3. To establish and maintain referral mechanisms. This ranges from ART-Accredited health facilities, post test clubs, community self help groups, micro-credit extension services and use of CSOs/Partnerships in Uganda and at the International level.

This is our call to all readers of the Newsletter.

Form viable groups, design plans that reflect the above objectives. See how your organisation or group or club can reflect the above objectives. Get off those haunches, knock on NGOs/CSOs/FBOs and Aids Services Organizations' doors. Make them work for you. Many directors or executive officers spend more expensive/capital time on jets or in exotic cities 'doing HIV/Aids work' but in reality the fancy offices have affected the way they need to show value for money.
